Description

EDIT: I can't believe people are still faving this. While I do appreciate your faves and your time and stuff, I must explain that this is the crappy (well maybe not entirely crappy) old version of the character designs. When all this Christmas fiasco is over I'm going to be updating most of the characters with newer designs/backstories in preparation for production on the web comic/ graphic novel that I'll be trying to do over next year, that will utilize my newfound skills in Photoshop.

First off I want to say "WHY THE HECK DOES PHOTOSHOP DO THOSE OUTLINES WHEN I REDUCE DPI??". I'm talking about the bright green halos in the darker green colours of the alien characters. How do you stop PS from doing that? They weren't there at 300 DPI.

Firstly I thought I should just post this up because it was taking so long and I wanted to start describing the millions of characters I have.

The character poses get more sensible from left to right because I kind of started with just doing the first pose I thought of for that character.

Also there's a couple of spoilers in the reference (nothing really bad, just stuff you need to know). I was also going to make a teenage witch character and a fat kid that was practically invulnerable to physical attacks...because of his fat, but their characters turned out all cliche.

REFERENCE STARTS HERE (from left to right)

Jeremy Eugene Simms
Age: 16
Height: 200cm (not including the hair, which is another 20cm)
Weight: 55kg
Likes: sugar rushes, cartoons, the Zodiac Knights (a television show that spoofs Power Rangers), pepsi, getting his way, crazy game shows, action/superhero movies
Dislikes: homework, work in general, school, hangovers, being outsmarted, brain teasers, teen shows with no script development, being targeted by bullies, reading

Hobbies: watching television, playing video games, photocopying his butt cheeks, photocopying himself and making the clone his substitute student, playing basketball, scanning and e-mailing himself and touching Kate’s privates in the most ridiculous ways possible

History:
Born as a five-fingered baby into a world of four-fingered people, Jeremy settled into life in Drawport quite well. It is believed his mother died just as he was born. Very few people actually noticed the fifth finger, and when they did, they just accepted it as an unfortunate deformity.

In his teenage years Jeremy developed a strange hobby of searching around his father’s old things. It wasn’t until he his sixteenth birthday that he reached the top of his dad’s closet and discovered a book titled “Forbidden Knowledge”. Inside it said “Do not dare to read this book”, so he read it anyway.

The book pretty much contained every trick and tip that could be used to cheat everyday physics (such as gravity, inertia, the vacuum of space, etc). We know these “tips” as “the laws of cartoon physics”.

Ever since Jeremy has been a superhuman (well…half superhuman), and has never looked back. Due to being able to break the laws of physics, sometimes he even forgets they exist.

Personality:
“Boys will be boys”. He’s rather mischievous, always thinking of crazy plans that usually lead him into trouble. Jeremy has a thing for Kate, and for some strange reason he enjoys irritating her. Of course he uses his powers to get his way, especially when it means getting out of schoolwork. However he never seems to learn that sometimes the easy way, can become the hard way.

Career dreams:
Jeremy is not sure whether he wants to be a race car driver, a pilot or an astronaut

Kate Thansher
Age: 17
Height: 170cm
Weight: 50kg
Likes: animals, birds, reading, good grades, fantasy novels, famous paintings, music (pop or classical)
Dislikes: Jeremy’s crazy schemes, boys (well the muscle-bound ones)

Hobbies: bird watching, photography, listening to music, drawing

History:
In school Kate was always more commonly known as the most popular girl in the class. However deep down she knew that people only thought that because of her attractiveness. For a long time Kate’s main priority was to do well in school, and she thought that having friends would only impact negatively on her education. Over time she hooked up with Jeremy due to all the times he’s tried to impress her.

On several occasions Kate has prevented Jeremy from sinking into even bigger trouble. Despite all the annoying moments she has with hime, Kate believes that she might as well look out for him if noone else is going to.

Personality:
Kate is perceived as a bit of a nerd. She wants to get the most out of life by being sensible, wise and getting the best grades possible (which is the main reason she didn’t read the “Forbidden Knowledge” book).

Career Dreams:
She dreams of becoming a surgeon in the Drawport hospital, and travelling abroad to help out those less fortunate than her.

Xyl...(last name unpronounceable)
Age: 250
Height: 340cm
Weight: 280kg
Likes: books, peace, technology
Dislikes: being disturbed, lightning, large predatory animals

History:
Xyl is a Tundran from the planet Gilvroth. He moved to Earth because his race was being hunted to extinction by predators. In Drawport it is completely normal to have aliens living in the town. Xyl is now one of Jeremy’s neighbours.

Because aliens would prefer to speak in their own dialect and hate learning new languages for every planet they visit, they use special technical apparatus that speaks in a certain language for them. It usually sounds like a computer narrating program.

Personality:
Always keen to learn more about Earth customs, Xyl is ever curious about human traditions. In any situation, he will always make the wisest decisions. This is why most people come to Xyl seeking advice on relationships and financial-related matters.

Milk...(last name unpronounceable)
Age: 52
Height: 140cm
Weight: 30kg
Likes: reading, peace, humans, earth clothing
Dislikes: technology glitches, pink, lightning

History:
Milk is Xyl’s daughter. She moved to Earth with her father while her mother remained on Gilvroth ready to report back when it was safe to go back there. Xyl named her after the ';pasteurised dairy breakfast liquid' out of respect for the human race. Although she’s a Tundran in a strange human world she never lets being the only alien student in the class bother her too much.

Personality:
Milk looks to Kate as a friend and as an information oracle for all her human-related questions. Unfortunately Milk likes to ask a LOT of questions and is always curious about how humans work.

Career Dreams:
Being a librarian is Milk’s main interest, probably because she wants to read everything she can about the human race and share the knowledge on Gilvroth.

Drew Simms
Age: 42
Height: 230cm
Weight: 68kg
Likes: hot chocolate,
Dislikes: Loretta leaving, being rejected, running out of chocolate milk powder

History:
Drew first obtained the ‘Forbidden Knowledge’ book from a female stranger named Loretta while he was on tour at Pointing Mountain in his teenage years. They fell in love and the made love. Then Loretta had to leave…..forever.

Since then Drew has been trying his best to raise Jeremy, fitting it in between television and his multiple attempts to get into the DASH (Drawportian Alliance of Super Heroes). He’s the only person (apart from Jeremy) to have read the ‘forbidden knowledge’ book, and despite his short attention span and distaste towards reading books, he has quite a good handle on the tips and tricks outlined in its pages.

Naturally, both Drew and Jeremy try to keep the fact that they’ve read the book a secret from each other, simply to continue living a normal life without the paparazzi following them. (Which I guess is ironic because it wouldn’t make any difference).

Personality:
He’s usually humorous and comical like Jeremy, except most people assume he lost a part of his sanity years ago. Little do they know this ‘insanity’ is just a cover-up to hide his true identity from a formidable and powerful enemy.

Career Dreams:
Other than being a part of the DASH (AKA a part-time superhero), Drew plans to write a ‘fictional’ book about his relationship with Loretta. Other than that, Drew wants to remain self-employed, working in his solo business as a fix-it person.

Noni Cranner
(see Noni’s reference)

At present, Noni lives in a large shed at the Drawport dump which serves as her private laboratory. Hardly anybody knows she’s there.

Gidgetus Cranner
(see Gidget’s reference)

Paprous Cranner
Age: A few months
Height: 210cm
Weight: 5kg
Likes: Noni, having fun, paper, photocopiers, helping out
Dislikes: staplers, matches, fire, hole punchers, paperclips, sticky tape, scissors, the wind (sometimes)

History:
He was created by accident when Nonis bumped against her experimental “come to life and grow really big” (CLaGRB) ray. The ray’s effects also gave him intelligence (well intelligence enough to speak). From that day forth Paprous has trusted Noni and has been eager to assist her with any of her experiments. However Noni at the time didn’t require two assistants, so Paprous moved into his own house in Drawport. Instead of directly assisting Noni, Paprous has had many jobs in attempts to gather funding for her research.

Paprous is able to fly by unfolding himself and flapping his sides. He can also fold himself into many different shapes, however because of his papery nature, very few of them have practical use. His papery body is also very easily picked up by the wind. Another problem Paprous has is his tendency to accidentally paper-cut things.

Personality:
Paprous is (to a certain extent) a thrill seeker. He’s always looking to try new things and goes with whatever ideas or plans Noni happens to come up with, even if they seem a little dangerous or unwise. He likes to help out anyone in need, simply because he craves the feeling of a good deed well done.

Rusty
Age: 8
Height: 100cm (standing up on two legs, on fours he’s 80cm)
Weight: 38kg
Likes: biscuits, chocolate, long walks, reading, coffee, being scratched behind the ears, tummy rubs, bacon, astronomy
Dislikes: low grade dog food, sleeping on concrete, storms, running out of leash, unchewable leashes

History:
First brought into the Simms family as a puppy, Rusty has served as the family pet all his life. In the beginning he was Drew’s dog, and then time eventually handed him over to Jeremy.

Many animals in Drawport are anthropomorphic to an extent. They can walk as bipeds and handle objects like people do. They even understand the English language. Unfortunately the animals can only speak in their native tongue. Which is just as well, because Rusty has had some closely guarded family secrets shared with him.

For the sheer sake of comedy and randomness, Rusty has the ability (well firstly to read) to operate human convenience machines like newspaper vendors and other vending machines. While he can’t speak English, it is possible for him to ‘charade’ to people his thoughts and intentions.

Personality:
Besides being extremely loyal to the Simms family, Rusty is a little nerdy. He likes to gaze at the stars through his telescope from time to time. He is very obedient, unless he’s told to do something unwise or just plain stupid, then he’s disobedient. Rusty likes to explore, however he is cautious and will take care not to rush into things.

Peggy
Age: 5
Height: 40cm
Weight: 25kg
Likes: being alone, soft things, fertile soil, scraps
Dislikes: animal cruelty

History:
Peggy is Kate’s chicken. Kate wanted something a little more docile and unique for a pet. Peggy likes to be alone in secret hidden places so she can enjoy her own company and lay eggs for Kate.

Since Rusty saved her from a fox attack, Peggy has been madly in love with him. It’s best to keep these two animals separated, or else there’ll be numerous ‘chuppies’ being born (well I can’t say ‘dicks’ now can I?)

Personality:
For some reason, Peggy doesn’t seem to like Jeremy at all. She makes this very clear by both pecking and hissing around him. Peggy also won’t stand to see an animal mistreated. Whenever she spies animals in trouble around her, she springs into action and pecks out the eyes of the offending party.
